Potomac Photonics, a world leader in laser micromachining, is pleased to announce that it now offers laser micro-welding services. With the ability to fixture and weld very small and complex patterns, this technology is ideal for medical device, biotech, semiconductor, and automotive applications. A wide variety of materials can be joined including stainless steel, copper, Nitinol, and Titanium. “Potomac’s number one priority is to help our partners and clients bring their products to market in the most efficient and cost-effective manner and the addition of this technology is just one way that we are succeeding,” stated Dr. Lori Beer, President of Potomac Photonics. “Our Technology Development Group’s sole purpose is to develop novel microfabrication technologies and micro-welding is just the latest in a long list of new processes that we have developed over the last couple of years,” said Potomac CTO Nick Doudoumopoulos. Potomac Photonics, which also machines a wide variety of materials with feature sizes as small as 1 micron, has already completed several challenging projects that have required both laser cutting and welding.

Lead-times as fast as 24-48 hours can be realized for certain Laser Welding applications. Once volumes reach a high level, Potomac can dedicate systems and resources for production manufacturing.

Potomac Photonics is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485 certified. All work is carefully inspected and certificates of conformance are included with all finished products.
