November 7, 2015; Baltimore County, MD:  Potomac Photonics is honored to have been selected as one of the 2015 Baltimore County New Directions Award recipients.  The annual award is made to companies located in the county that are on the leading edge of engineering, manufacturing and/or technology that best represents the great potential of our business community, and the economic future of Baltimore County.  Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will present the awards November 19, at the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame ceremony.

Potomac relocated last year to the bwtech@UMBC Research & Technology Park in Baltimore County in order to take advantage of the tremendous support that both the County and UMBC give local businesses.  “We have found extensive collaboration opportunities here in Baltimore County”, emphasizes Potomac CEO Mike Adelstein, “that have fueled growth.  We’ve been able to add new equipment to meet the increased business partially through a $150,000 High Technology loan from Baltimore County. In addition, we’ve worked with the Fab Lab at the Community College of Baltimore County on workforce development that has enabled us to meet increased production demand for our biotech, medical device, microelectronics and consumer digital fabrication services.”

The other New Directions Award went to Dunbar Security Solutions located in Hunt Valley.  “We are proud to recognize Potomac Photonics and Dunbar Security Solutions as leaders in Baltimore County’s technology community,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. “Both companies demonstrate the importance of seizing growth opportunities.”

In addition to the New Directions award, the Community College of Baltimore County and Kenneally & Company, certified public accountants, will be inducted into the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame at the November 19 ceremony at Hayfields Country Club.

Potomac is delighted to be located in Baltimore County and we hope to continue what has started as a rewarding relationship with the local government, educational institutions and businesses that are our neighbors.
