Potomac Photonics has developed some of the most advanced metal hole drilling capabilities. Hole diameters as small as 2 microns can be drilled in thin metal sheets. Diameters as small as 4 microns can be drilled in thicker materials.
Applications that require small holes in metals include: Shadow Masks, Tiny Orifices for Filters, Cooling Channels, Heat Sinks, Fuel Injectors, Drug Delivery Devices, Pinhole Apertures, Flow Orifices and many more.
Depending on the hole diameter required, Potomac utilizes lasers or Micro-CNC systems to drill holes for prototyping and high volume applications. In fact, once a project moves to production, we can drill 1,000′s of holes per minute.
